IRISH FOOTBALL FANS WILL LEAVE THEIR TEAM BEHIND TO HEAD FOR BRAZIL

Despite Irish Team not being at Brazil for the World Cup 2014 – it seems their fans will!

New figures released today by Expedia.ie reveal Irish booking searches for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil have increased by 2,897%*, despite the fact that our team won’t qualify! This figure is over double the increase in bookings among the Brits (1,095%) who are still in with a chance, and significantly more than the Italians (889%) who together with the Dutch, are the only fans safe in the knowledge of seeing their home team compete.

Andy Washington, Expedia.ie MD commented: ‘Football fans always travel in large numbers for Football World Cups, however I think everyone senses that 2014’s event will be extra special - especially given that it’s the most decorated football nation and birthplace of Pele and Ronaldo. With both the World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games taking place in Brazil, it’s no wonder that Irish fans are looking at Brazil so far in advance. Despite knowing that Ireland won’t quality, this level of interest in bookings sums up the passion the Irish feel towards the beautiful game.”

For anyone looking to book a trip to the World Cup, Expedia.ie is offering return flights and 5 nights in Sao Paulo, Brazil from €1,480 per person.
