Expedia® Insiders’ Select™ 2013 Reveals World’s Top Rated Hotels
The Lake Hotel Killarney ranked as #1 hotel in Ireland and #50 in the world
29 July 2013: The Lake Hotel Killarney has ranked as number 50 in the best hotels around the world. This is according to Expedia.com, the world’s leading online travel agency, which today revealed its renowned Expedia® Insiders’ Select™ 2013 list, an annual ranking of the best hotels on Expedia sites around the world, predominantly determined by Expedia customers.
The ranking puts the Lake Hotel as Ireland’s number one hotel according to millions of reviews from Expedia’s customers across the world. However another Irish hotel, The River Lee in Cork, also made the prestigious top 100 list at number 75.
Andy Washington, Managing Director of Expedia.ie said: “Travellers have an increasingly voracious appetite for online reviews and they have become critically important to their purchasing decisions. Yet with so much choice, it’s often hard to find the hotel that’s right just for your needs. We understand how important your holiday choices are and so we launched Insiders’ Select to help travellers draw on the experiences of our customers together with our local Expedia experts working with hotels everyday around the world. ”, says. “We’re delighted to celebrate an increased number of hotels in Ireland receiving this accolade compared with 2012, helping provide a benchmark hotels should be aiming for.”
Niall Huggard, General Manager of The Lake Hotel said; "To be ranked at #1 in Ireland and #50 globally in the Expedia Insiders’ Select list, from the top ranked hotels in the Expedia marketplace around the world, is truly an invaluable recognition based on valuable reviews and feedback from those that really matter - our guests.”
Taking the global number one spot in this year’s Expedia Insiders’ Select is One&Only Palmilla Resort in Los Cabos, Mexico, followed by Arenas del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort near the Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. In third place is last year’s winner, the Marrol's Boutique Hotel in Bratislava.
This global ranking celebrates hotels all around the world, representing various accommodation types and star ratings. More than 650 hotels in the 2013 rankings are found in more than 450 cities in more than 70 countries, making this a truly global recognition programme.
